If you know me, you know that I LOVE architecture – and I really love the juxtaposition of a wedding gown against a backdrop of beautiful architecture.  That’s why I love shooting in downtown Charleston and cities so much!  So when Lauren told me she wanted to do her bridal portrait session in downtown Columbia SC, I was so excited to explore and find the perfect spot for her session.  Without really knowing what her wedding dress looked like, I fell in love with the SC State House because of the beautiful stone stairs, marble columns, and architectural interest of the building.  And the light?  It was PERFECTION!

When Lauren arrived and put on her dress, I knew I had made a great choice in terms of our location.  Her sleek, modern dress featuring a huge bow on the back was the perfect complement to this historic building.  The softness of her hair, the lines of her dress, the feminine bow detail, and the clean backdrop came together in the most beautiful way.  These bridal portraits are some of my absolute favorite images EVER just because of the sheer simplicity of the photos.  These are images that will stand the test of time and feel classic 50 years from now.  The SC State House backdrop really allows Lauren and her stunning Antonio Gual wedding gown to take center stage – which is actually the whole point of a bridal portrait session.

Lauren + Matt were married last spring at Magnolia Way, so I wanted to finally share these photos with the world.  Here are some of my favorites from Lauren’s bridal portrait session in downtown Columbia SC…
