Some wedding days go exactly as planned. Nicole and Thomas’ Boone Hall wedding reminded me why the ones that don’t often stay with you the longest.
The morning began bright and full of promise — sunshine filtering through the trees, that unmistakable calm before everything begins. Boone Hall in the summer always feels expansive and hopeful, and for a while, it seemed like the day would unfold just as expected. Then Mother Nature changed her mind. Just before things really got underway, the rain arrived – heavy, sudden, unmistakable. The kind of rain that forces a pivot, whether you’re ready for it or not. And yet, one of the most meaningful moments of the day still happened exactly where it was meant to.
Nicole and Thomas shared their First Look beneath the Avenue of Oaks, surrounded by towering trees and soft light. As they exchanged private vows, thunder cracked overhead – dramatic and unexpected – and within moments, we were moving quickly toward shelter as the skies opened completely. From there, the day became about adaptation. The ceremony was moved beneath the Cotton Dock, a space that felt intimate and grounded against the backdrop of rain and water beyond. The overcast light softened everything. The rain added a quiet romance. And the people surrounding them – their family and friends – showed up fully, lifting the energy of the space in a way no plan ever could. When Nicole and Thomas said their vows, there was nothing missing. It felt emotional, present, and deeply real.
Instead of retreating from the weather, they leaned into the rest of the day. They joined their guests for cocktail hour, laughed, hugged, and let the celebration unfold naturally. By the time the dance floor filled, the rain was no longer an inconvenience – it was part of the story. And honestly, it made the night better. There’s something about a shared challenge that brings people closer, and that was evident here. Nicole and Thomas spent the evening exactly where they wanted to be – together, surrounded by the people who love them most, dancing and celebrating without worrying about what might have been.
This Boone Hall wedding was proof that perfection isn’t about conditions – it’s about connection. About choosing joy even when the plan changes. About trusting that the meaning of the day isn’t fragile. While Nicole and Thomas’ wedding wasn’t what they expected, it was something deeper – and in the end, something unforgettable.

Nine years of growing up together gives you a certain steadiness – the kind that doesn’t panic when plans unravel. That quiet confidence defined Walker + Addi Grace’s wedding day at Boone Hall, even as steady rain reshaped nearly every detail of their celebration. High school sweethearts who met as freshmen and now call Columbia, […]

Some wedding days unfold exactly as planned. Others ask you to let go, adapt, and trust what matters most. Lauren and Billy’s wedding at Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head was very much the latter – and in many ways, that’s what made it so meaningful. Elegant, sophisticated, and deeply classic in style, their day […]

Mayzie + Hyrum’s intimate celebration at the Ocean Course on Kiawah gave me allllll of the Ralph Lauren vibes. When I look back at these images, I’m instantly transported – there’s something so Americana and nostalgic about the day, in the best possible way. Maybe it’s the classic blue hydrangea bouquet, effortlessly timeless. Maybe it’s […]

When it comes to tipping wedding vendors, there’s often a lot of conflicting information – especially when it comes to tipping photographers. Should you tip them? If so, how much? And who exactly should receive it – the lead photographer or their team? The truth is, while tipping your wedding photographer is never expected, it’s […]

Erin and Buddy’s Ocean Course Kiawah wedding was a day designed to feel calm, unrushed, and genuinely enjoyable for everyone involved, especially the two of them. The morning unfolded slowly, just as they’d planned. No chaos, no overstuffed schedule. Erin and Buddy got ready separately, knowing they had built in what so many couples forget […]
