Some wedding days are carefully planned. Others unfold exactly the way they’re meant to. Melissa and Eric originally hired me to photograph their elopement closer to home near Lake Wylie. But when Melissa’s father became ill, everything shifted. Plans were paused, priorities reordered, and space was made for what mattered most. When the time felt right again, they decided to come to Charleston for their elopement — not for anything elaborate, but simply to get married in a place that felt calm, beautiful, and easy.
We started the morning at their Airbnb in Mount Pleasant, where Melissa and Eric were completely themselves – relaxed, present, and accompanied by their dogs, who were very much part of the story. There was no rush, no pressure to perform. Just a quiet beginning to a meaningful day. From there, we headed downtown to Hampton Park, where they exchanged vows surrounded by trees, soft light, and the kind of stillness that makes you slow down. With nature as their backdrop, their ceremony was simple and heartfelt – focused entirely on the commitment they were making, nothing more and nothing less.
Melissa wore a beautiful dress with a flowing cape that moved gently as she walked, adding just the right amount of softness and grace. The florals were understated and elegant, perfectly in line with the tone of the day. Nothing felt excessive. Everything felt intentional. Afterward, we wandered through the city together, stopping at some of my favorite Charleston spots – the kind of afternoon you don’t plan too tightly, but discover as you go. The afternoon felt more like exploring than posing, more like time spent than time scheduled.
This Charleston elopement was a reminder that weddings don’t need to be complicated to be meaningful. Sometimes the most beautiful days are the ones that leave room for flexibility, for laughter, for dogs on leashes, for capes catching the light, and for love to take center stage without distraction. Melissa and Eric’s day was laid back, joyful, and grounded in what truly mattered – and it was an honor to document it exactly as it was.

Some wedding days unfold exactly as planned. Others ask you to let go, adapt, and trust what matters most. Lauren and Billy’s wedding at Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head was very much the latter – and in many ways, that’s what made it so meaningful. Elegant, sophisticated, and deeply classic in style, their day […]

Mayzie + Hyrum’s intimate celebration at the Ocean Course on Kiawah gave me allllll of the Ralph Lauren vibes. When I look back at these images, I’m instantly transported – there’s something so Americana and nostalgic about the day, in the best possible way. Maybe it’s the classic blue hydrangea bouquet, effortlessly timeless. Maybe it’s […]

When it comes to tipping wedding vendors, there’s often a lot of conflicting information – especially when it comes to tipping photographers. Should you tip them? If so, how much? And who exactly should receive it – the lead photographer or their team? The truth is, while tipping your wedding photographer is never expected, it’s […]

Erin and Buddy’s Ocean Course Kiawah wedding was a day designed to feel calm, unrushed, and genuinely enjoyable for everyone involved, especially the two of them. The morning unfolded slowly, just as they’d planned. No chaos, no overstuffed schedule. Erin and Buddy got ready separately, knowing they had built in what so many couples forget […]

Some wedding days go exactly as planned. Nicole and Thomas’ Boone Hall wedding reminded me why the ones that don’t often stay with you the longest. The morning began bright and full of promise — sunshine filtering through the trees, that unmistakable calm before everything begins. Boone Hall in the summer always feels expansive and […]

Alyssa and Joe’s colorful Magnolia Plantation wedding was the kind of wedding day that I just LOVE photographing – easy, joyful, and beautifully unbothered by expectation. Last summer, they gathered about 50 of their closest family and friends for a brunch celebration that felt more like a garden party than a formal event, and that […]
