Your wedding bouquet plays a huge part in your wedding day photos. I mean, it’s in pretty much EVERY portrait on your wedding day and I also use it to help style your bridal details in the morning. For that reason, you should put a lot of thought into your wedding bouquet. The size, color, and texture of your wedding bouquet helps shape the look + feel of your wedding and should be a reflection of your overall wedding design.
A few tips when thinking about your bouquet:
1. Go big or go home! The size + scale of your bouquet matters. If you’re wearing a large ball gown, or if you’re a larger bride, you’ll appreciate having a larger bouquet in your photos. Even if you’re petite, a large bouquet is ALWAYS a good idea!! It will help make you look even tinier in photos… and who doesn’t want that?!
2. Don’t be afraid of color! Your florals are the perfect way to infuse some color into your day and, in my opinion, colorful flowers photograph so well against pastel + neutral bridesmaid dresses. While all-white flowers are considered typically “bridal”, the blooms get lost so easily against a white gown in photos. If you’re not into bright colors like I am, even just adding a hint of color with peach or blush blooms will help your bouquet pop in your photos!
3. If you splurge on anything on your wedding day, splurge on your florals. While it may seem “silly” to spend so much money on flowers, they are in pretty much every portrait throughout the day – and in all of your reception detail photos too! Having fabulous florals makes a HUGE statement in your photos and, in my opinion, it’s worth splurging on them!
4. Have your bouquet delivered to your getting ready location before we arrive for photos. This will ensure that we can incorporate them into your bridal detail photos and helps tie everything together.
5. Trust your florist. A good florist will take your ideas and bring them to life in the most beautiful way… it really is art!! Let them know what you’re thinking in terms of color, texture, flowers + style… and let them do their thing. By allowing them to create something based on your ideas, you’ll have a custom masterpiece that is a true reflection of you on the wedding day! It’s no secret that I LOVE photographing bouquets and florals… and if you’re still trying to figure out what shape, size, color, texture, or flowers you want to hold on your wedding day, check out some of my very favorite bouquets for some amazing inspiration!

Somehow, it’s already February and I just realized that I haven’t posted my year-end recap from 2024. Yikes! Better late than never, I suppose! If I’m being totally honest and transparent, 2024 was a difficult year for me + my mindset. Self-doubt, not knowing where I “fit in”, feeling jealousy of other photographers, and not […]
