When Martha Camille told me that she wanted to recreate her mother’s studio bridal portraits, I’ll admit… I was a little hesitant.  I’ve never done studio bridal portraits before and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to bring her vision to life.  As a creative, I love doing things that are outside of my comfort zone – but I rarely take those risks with clients unless I feel like they really really trust me.  I knew Martha Camille wanted to do something different, and that she completely trusted me – so that gave me the courage to push forward.  And let me tell you – I am so glad she did!

Sure, we could’ve done what everyone else does and expects – outdoor, natural light bridal portraits under the Avenue of Oaks at Boone Hall.  They would’ve been beautiful and completely “safe” because I’ve done them a million times.  But instead, I bought a studio backdrop setup and tried something new… and I’m obsessed.  I absolutely love the simplicity of studio bridal portraits.  The focus is completely on the bride + her gown.  I still utilized natural light, but in a different way – and I just love the outcome.

Martha Camille wore a stunning strapless Allison Webb ball gown with a custom bolero jacket made out of lace from her mother’s wedding gown.  Her veil was also customized with matching lace along the edge.  Her sleek hair do and soft makeup completed this classic bridal look – and now that she’s officially married, I’m SO excited to share some of my favorites!  Here are a few from Martha Camille’s studio bridal portraits at Boone Hall…
