One of the best ways to create a cohesive color story throughout all of your wedding day photos is through your florals. Your florals will make an appearance in pretty much every photo on your wedding day – from your bridal portrait, to your portraits with your partner, to your wedding party portraits, to your reception detail + decor photos. Florals are a great way to tie everything together visually because they play such a prominent role in every part of your wedding day. For this reason, I really love incorporating florals in your styled personal detail shots at the beginning of the day because it allows me to craft a cohesive storyline from start to finish.
If detail photos are important to you and you want florals included in them, I need your personal florals (styling blooms, boutonnieres, and primary bouquet) to be delivered wherever you are getting ready by the time I am scheduled to arrive in the morning. To be safe, you should tell your florist to deliver them 30 minutes before I’m scheduled to start shooting – just in case delivery is delayed for some reason. I’m also usually early on the wedding day as well. When I arrive on your wedding day, I typically get right to work on your styled personal detail shots because they actually do take a while to style + shoot – so having your florals available for me to incorporate from the very beginning is really important. If they aren’t on-site when I arrive, it’s totally okay – but just know that they simply won’t be incorporated into some of those detail shots because I just can’t waste any precious time in the morning waiting for them to arrive.
Most florists are happy to provide styling blooms for photographers to use in their detail shots, so if this is something your florist offers – PLEASE ASK FOR STYLING BLOOMS!! Styling blooms are simply extra loose flowers and greenery that I can use to style with. Florists will usually drop off a vase of extra flowers + greenery along with your bouquet and boutonnieres and it makes SUCH a difference in the types of images I can style + create for you! Having an abundance of styling blooms allows your photographer to create gorgeous images like the ones you see in this post. It’s something I LOVE doing because it’s a really easy way to make your detail images stand out, PLUS it will help tie everything together. And it gets me warmed up creatively for the rest of your wedding day!
If you have any questions or concerns about floral delivery timelines, please reach out to your photographer. Every photographer works differently, but I personally like to have florals on hand first thing in the morning when I arrive so that I can create these beautiful images that help to tell the style and color story of your wedding day!

When Katie first told me about her wedding day vision – a classic brunch wedding overlooking the water at the iconic Ocean Course on Kiawah Island – I knew it was going to be such a beautiful celebration. There really isn’t anything like a Kiawah Island wedding! A custom Modern Trousseau ball gown, topped with […]
I met up with Dawn + Joey in February for their beautiful engagement session here in Charleston. They brought their two beautiful pups, Willow + Cricket, along for part of the session… and boy, did they have a blast at Hampton Park?!? I am totally OBSESSED with the photos of them walking together (below) because […]
Audra + Rahul’s beautiful traditional Indian wedding in Charleston was definitely one for the books. I absolutely LOVE everything about South Asian/Indian weddings… the colors, the attire, the music, the food, the traditions, the rituals, the family element, the dancing. There really is nothing like it and if I could specialize in shooting only South […]
From the very first time I spoke with Martha Camille, I knew that her Boone Hall wedding was going to be EPIC. I also knew that she was going to be a dream client for me – and she absolutely was! I love all of my couples, but it’s so extra special when someone has […]
When Martha Camille told me that she wanted to recreate her mother’s studio bridal portraits, I’ll admit… I was a little hesitant. I’ve never done studio bridal portraits before and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to bring her vision to life. As a creative, I love doing things that are outside of […]
2023 was definitely one of the best years yet for my business. I had the honor of working with so many fabulous couples, in so many fabulous locations… including Spain, Italy, and Hawaii! I feel extremely lucky that I was able to experience such a tremendous year of growth and travel. Here are some of […]
