Back in 2015, after 3 years in business, I first launched my associate photography program. I was personally shooting 40-50 weddings per year and turning down SO MANY COUPLES who wanted to work with me… but I was always booked. I wanted to be able to serve more couples who resonated with my style, so I brought Emily on-board as an associate photographer – and she photographed 18 weddings for me between late 2015 and early 2017. As my business grew and my personal life fell apart, I knew I couldn’t sustain the hustle needed to truly serve so many couples. I made the very difficult choice to end my associate photography program in 2017 and go back to shooting on my own. It was truly bittersweet, but it was what I needed as I navigated a difficult time of business + personal growth.
Fast forward 3 years and I am in a much different place. I am personally only shooting 30-35 weddings per year and I’m at a much higher price point than I was 3+ years ago. Since I love what I do and I love being able to serve as many couples as possible, I decided to start offering associate photography again! Emily is back and I’m THRILLED to be able to offer her services when I am already booked, or if clients simply want a similar experience at a lower price point. Emily is such an amazing person and I know I can completely trust her with my clients. She has shot alongside me for 6+ years now, so she has a very similar shooting + working style as I do.
With associate photography collections, I will still take care of all of the business + client management stuff – from contracts, to timelines, to shot lists, to editing and delivery. It all still goes through me. The only difference is that Emily is the lead photographer on the wedding day – and engagement/bridal portraits, if applicable. It works out well since Emily is a mom to two twin boys – so she loves the freedom that comes with showing up and shooting on the wedding day… without having to worry about the business side of things. And I love being able to provide Emily with an opportunity to do what she truly loves, while also maintaining a great work-life balance for herself and her family.
So please join me in welcoming Emily back to the DCW family! We’ve already started booking her for 2021 clients and I can’t wait to see what she creates!! And I’m always looking to add to my team of assistants, second shooters, and potentially even more associate photographers if the right fit comes along. So if you or someone you know is interested in joining my team, please feel free to shoot me an email.
