Alex and Brian are high school sweethearts from Pittsburgh, PA and winners of the senior superlative award “Couple Most Likely to Get Married”. After years of dating, long distance romance, and dreaming about her perfect wedding day, it all came together oh-so-beautifully a few weekends ago at Lowndes Grove. As a product development specialist for Nordstrom, Alex’s eye for design and fashion was key in creating a unique, one-of-a-kind wedding atmosphere that literally touched all of the senses.
Their wedding inspiration was tuscan rustic with a modern, clean twist, featuring a lot of natural elements and greenery throughout. Think fresh herbs, lavender, white florals, a clear top tent with cafe lights + a wine sphere chandelier, dark leather furniture, fur throws, long wooden farm tables + wooden X-back chairs, candles in hurricane vases, silver julep cups filled with herbs + flowers, mercury glass accents, and a family-style dinner al fresco. I mean, Alex truly thought of everything and the end result was definitely one of the most amazing wedding designs I’ve ever had the privilege of photographing. It was absolutely breathtaking. It was also my 100th wedding!! WOOHOO!!
Alex + Brian shared a First Look before joining their bridal party + family for photos before the ceremony. Their bridal party looked amazing with the girls in lavender/grey Monique Lhuillier gowns and the groomsmen in blue/grey suits from J.Crew. Their junior bridesmaid wore a white cotton oxford shirt with a white tulle shirt, finished off with a floral crown – so fun and the perfect choice for this tuscan rustic soiree. The twin ring bearers looked like they stepped right out of a J.Crew kids catalog, wearing dark jeans, a white oxford and a classic grey vest. Their junior groomsmen wore a slightly darker grey suit to coordinate with the rest of the guys. Together, this group honestly looked like they stepped out of a magazine!! I was squealing with excitement behind the camera the entire time!!
Alex + Brian said “I do!” beneath a large oak tree at the back of the property in front of an altar adorned with various potted plants + herbs. A wooden boardwalk lined with eucalyptus served as the aisle and guests tossed lavender in the air as Alex + Brian recessed back toward the main house as husband and wife. Cocktail hour was followed by dinner al fresco beneath cafe lights on the front lawn of Lowndes Grove. Family-style dishes of short ribs, rosemary chicken, mac + cheese, brussel sprouts, and black eye pea salad were passed between family + friends as the sun dipped below the horizon. After cutting their naked wedding cake, Alex + Brian headed to the dance floor for their first dance as Mr + Mrs. After that, the dance floor was packed!! Rivertown Band was amazing and kept the party going all night long. At the very end of the night, Alex + Brian exited through a tunnel of sparklers – the perfect ending to an absolutely amazing wedding day.
