All of my brides are amazing, but every once in a while I meet one that feels like family. From the very first time we spoke, I knew it was a match made in heaven and I am honestly so thankful and honored to have been chosen to work with Katie + David. Throughout the process, Katie and I formed a very close relationship so when I showed up on her wedding day, it was almost like I was shooting my own sister’s wedding!! How awesome is that?!
Katie + David’s wedding day was absolutely amazing. Although rain threatened the area all day, we only got a few sprinkles before the sun finally came out right before the ceremony… I guess the tradition of burying the bourbon really does work!! Katie + her mother played a very active role in the design of the wedding, which was inspired by the bright colors used by Lilly Pulitzer. Fabulous florals by Branch Design Studio knocked all of us girls off of our feet and Katie’s mom provided a ton of custom elements, including the table runners, embroidered pillows, and even Katie’s monogrammed bow sash, which she wore for the ceremony. I love how involved they were throughout the process and seeing their faces as they saw it all come together on the big day. Meredith of Sweetgrass Social pulled it all together with a wedding design that will always remain one of my all-time favorites. So colorful, so elegant, and so Katie!
Katie + David shared a First Look in the garden at the Thomas Bennett House, then proceeded to dig up the bottle of bourbon they had buried earlier this spring. Shortly thereafter, the entire bridal party hopped on a party bus and headed downtown for photos and it was a blast! So many fun photos of Katie, David, and their best friends. I LOVED this portion of the day and I’m so glad Katie + David opted to spend so much time downtown doing photos. I think it really paid off!
As the sun finally peeked through the clouds, Katie walked down the aisle on her father’s arm. Their ceremony was hands-down the BEST ceremony I’ve ever witnessed. Their friend and pastor, Franklin Golden, performed the most amazing ceremony that had everyone laughing out loud. Everyone was just raving about it the rest of the night. SO GOOD!!!
The rest of the night was spent socializing and dancing under the reception tent. The dance floor was never empty and this crowd knew how to party! I had so much fun hanging out on the dance floor all night and watching everyone have so much fun. Highlight of the night? When they played “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys and everyone was belting it out. Anytime a bride of mine plays Backstreet Boys, I can’t help but sing along. It only confirms what I already knew… Katie + David are completely awesome!!
I could go on and on about this wedding, but I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking. Here are some of my favorites from Katie + David’s amazing wedding day…
